Authorized Worlds Program Terms

Last updated: September 9, 2026

These interim Authorized Worlds Program Terms apply to world owners, fan writers, applicants, approved projects, published fan entries, and visitors using the Authorized Worlds features of City Pixels.

1. Relationship to the main City Pixels Terms

These Program Terms supplement the City Pixels Terms of Use. If a specific Authorized World has additional published rules, those world rules also apply to participation in that world. A separate written agreement between a rights holder and a fan writer may grant rights beyond this platform program, but City Pixels is not a party to that outside agreement unless it expressly signs it.

2. Creator-controlled permission sandbox

Each Authorized World is controlled by a person or organization representing that it has authority to define the permitted fan-fiction sandbox. The world may identify allowed elements, forbidden or protected elements, canon-character limits, content-rating boundaries, discovery requirements, project limits, and other participation rules.

3. Non-canon status

Approval, publication, featuring, popularity, follows, time, or participation in an Authorized World does not make a fan project part of official canon. A change in canon status requires a separate outside agreement or official act by the rights holder; City Pixels approval does not create canon.

4. Ownership boundaries

The underlying world, canon material, trademarks, protected characters, settings, and other owner-controlled intellectual property remain with their respective rights holders. A fan writer retains ownership of the original character elements and prose the fan writer creates, subject to the rights holder’s underlying intellectual-property rights and the limited permissions governing the world.

World approval does not transfer a fan writer’s original character or prose to the world owner. Fan participation does not transfer ownership of the underlying world to the fan writer.

5. Limited City Pixels hosting license

By submitting Authorized Worlds material, the submitting user grants Fallen House Media LLC a limited, nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, display, distribute through City Pixels, moderate, preserve required records, and promote the submitted material in connection with City Pixels and the specific Authorized Worlds program. City Pixels does not receive ownership of the submitted material through this license.

6. Character and project isolation

A fan writer may use only fan-created characters and distinctive expression the writer controls or has separate permission to use. Another fan writer’s character may not be used for a cameo, quotation, fight, romance, injury, death, off-page event, adaptation, or other story use merely because both projects exist in the same Authorized World.

7. Rule versions

World rules may change over time. City Pixels preserves rule-version history and the version accepted by a project. A newer rule version is not treated as accepted by that project merely because it was published; affirmative acceptance may be required before the project moves to the newer rule version.

8. Applications and approvals

An application is a request to participate, not a guarantee of approval, publication, continued access, traffic, readership, compensation, or commercial opportunity. World owners may approve, request revision, deny, suspend, restore, feature, or otherwise administer participation within the platform rules. City Pixels may intervene when platform rules, safety, law, or third-party rights are implicated.

9. Commercial use

Authorized Worlds fan work is non-commercial by default. The separate Commercial Use Policy applies unless a rights holder grants additional written permission.

10. Moderation and world status

City Pixels may provide different world states that affect applications, publishing, visibility, and owner controls. Existing published records may remain visible or preserved even when new activity is restricted. Platform suspension, evidence preservation, or removal may occur when necessary for safety, rights protection, legal compliance, or investigation.

11. Reports, disputes, and appeals

Rule violations, copyright concerns, harassment, illegal content, idea conflicts, and other platform issues may be reported through Authorized Worlds reporting tools. City Pixels does not determine legal ownership merely because it preserves timestamps, audit records, or evidence. Creative disagreement by itself is not a platform appeal. See the IP, Takedown & Dispute Policy.

12. Removal and retained records

Content may be unpublished or removed from public display. City Pixels may retain reasonable backup, audit, moderation, dispute, legal-hold, rule-acceptance, and security records after public removal when needed to operate the service or protect rights.

13. No employment, partnership, or representation

Participation does not create employment, agency, partnership, joint venture, endorsement, franchise, or representation between a fan writer, a world owner, City Pixels, or Fallen House Media LLC.

14. Changes to these interim terms

These interim terms may be revised or replaced before broader launch. Material changes may require renewed acceptance or other notice before continued participation.
