Authorized Worlds Fan Writer Terms

Last updated: September 9, 2026

These terms apply when you apply to, receive approval for, write in, or publish through an Authorized World.

1. Limited permission, not ownership of the world

Your participation gives you only the limited permission described by the world owner’s published rules and permission statement. You do not receive ownership of the underlying world, canon characters, trademarks, protected settings, or other rights-holder material.

2. Your original character and prose

You retain ownership of the original character elements and prose you create, subject to the underlying rights that belong to the world owner and other rights holders. Approval does not transfer your original character or prose to the world owner or City Pixels.

3. Your submissions must be yours to submit

You represent that you control the original fan-created elements you submit and that your submission does not knowingly copy another fan writer’s protected expression, impersonate another creator, or include material you do not have permission to use.

4. No use of another fan writer’s character

You may not use another fan writer’s character or distinctive expression merely because that writer also participates in the same world. This includes cameos, quotations, fights, romances, injuries, deaths, off-page events, adaptations, or references that appropriate the other writer’s original expression.

5. Accepted world rules

Your project is governed by the rule version recorded as accepted for that project. When a newer rule version is available, you may be required to affirmatively accept it before your project moves to that version.

6. Non-canon status

Your project remains non-canon through approval, publication, featuring, popularity, follows, or time. Only a separate act or agreement from the rights holder can change that outside the normal platform program.

7. Non-commercial default

You may use your Authorized Worlds project for audience discovery inside City Pixels, but you may not sell, license, paywall, mint, commercially publish, merchandise, adapt, or otherwise commercially exploit the derivative fan work without separate written permission from the rights holder. See the Commercial Use Policy.

8. Limited City Pixels license

You grant Fallen House Media LLC the limited hosting and platform license described in the Authorized Worlds Program Terms so City Pixels can store, display, format, moderate, preserve, and promote your project in connection with the platform. This is not an ownership transfer.

9. World-owner review is not a transfer of rights

You permit the world owner to review your application and project for Authorized Worlds administration. That review does not by itself give the world owner a standalone commercial license to your original character or prose.

10. No promise of payment or acquisition

Participation does not promise royalties, compensation, employment, publication elsewhere, acquisition, adaptation, canon status, or a future licensing deal.

11. Suspension and removal

Your writing or publishing access may be restricted if your project, writer access, or world status changes, or if safety, rights, moderation, or legal issues require restriction. Existing audit and dispute records may be preserved after removal.

12. Separate outside agreements

If you and a rights holder later enter into a separate written agreement concerning your original character or project, that outside agreement controls the rights it expressly grants. City Pixels is not responsible for negotiating or enforcing that outside agreement unless Fallen House Media LLC separately agrees in writing.
